Way back to Monland
I have never been flied back to Asia after I came to Denmark from the beginning of 2001. This year ,2006, Euro-Mon Community sends me to attach 3rd Conference of Mon National Affair in Nyiiser Camp. I’m really happy to see my old friends and new friends. They would be also feeling glad to seeing me.
We drive from Sangkhlaburi and crossing over Mon refugees Camp Halockhani. The Camp was started in 1994. I would like to tell about this camp little big. In 1990, after the Burmese troops overran the Mon headquarters in Three Pagodas Pass, over 12,000 displaced persons fled into Thailand and took refuges. To take responsibility for these refugees, the MNRC (Mon National Relief Committee) set up Mon refugee camps inside Thailand. In 1992, the situation of Mon refugees was unstable as Thai authorities ordered that all Mon refugee camps be relocated in one site of Loh Loe Camp. Although Loh Loe camp was very convenient for Mon refugees, it lasted only one year and was ordered to move to Burma side again. At the beginning of this year Thai authorities ordered Mon refugees to move from Loh Loe Camp to the new sites of Halockhani Camp on Burma side.
We talk a short brake in Halockhani Camp and continue to Blah Doon Pak refugee Camp. At there we take a short brake again in Mon Army Camp. Not far away from the Mon Army Camp there are a bus state. There are alot of people who are going to particapate the confeence in the bus state. We have our dinner in a food-table at there. "We can eat only here. There are no more shop on the way." said Nai Htaw Mon to us.
When we stop over Chah Dak, Nai Htaw Mon invites us to drink sugar-cane juice.
Next day alot of people from various townships from both Monland and Thailand arrive to the Nyiisar Camp.
On the morning of 26 April the Conference starts.
At night we have Music concert that calls "Giita Bankak" and singing and dansing by our self. Nai Hongsar the secretary of NMSP is also joining with Nai Kwe Mon from Austaria to sing even if he doesn't know the song. It's just for friendship amound us.
Before we leave from the camp, Mon Women Organisation invites us to lunch in their office. When Nai Hongsar sees I'm eatting Khatopklak (a kind creeper/enny wort), he said that Nai Bee Htaw likes vegetable food from Monland. I say "yes I eat vegetable like a goat."
On the way back we have very diffacult time. Due to heavy rain, our truck got slippery. It could not easily go up hill and down hill. So we have to dig the ground to make it more fraction for the wheels of the truck.
Nai Ponya Mon and I are sleeping in rain and wet on the back of the truck.
When we are in Blah Cin, it's getting dark and we have to overnight there. There are about 10 guests already in a small guest-house.
Tomorrow morning we continue our trip by foot on the slippery road. I was falling down. It was very difficult to walk on slippery road. I have leave alot of memories there. One thing that makes me so unhappy is they also call me "foreigner" like Danish people do. I'm never believed that one day I become a double foreigner from the country I'm living in and my native country. But I think that it's more better to be a foreigner in Denmark. If you want to read the whole of my travel book on this trip. You can get it by clicking here. ywjr mikjgWobHj tcjq^ztjqW.tj FUqBcjek.oDruJeQN.j mrFukj (3)wWom^,
